Founded in Vic in 1999, Options Catalunya–Nepal was born from the friendship between Catalan and Nepalese people committed to education and girls’ rights.
What are we doing?
Options Catalunya Nepal is an entity committed to the defense of the rights and the improvement of the opportunities of the girls of Nepal.
Our action in Nepal focuses, first and foremost, on sexual and reproductive health education. We work so that girls have access to rigorous information, adequate resources and safe spaces where they can express themselves freely. The aim is for them to know their rights and be able to make informed decisions about their body and their life project.
In Catalonia we promote global citizenship, promoting active and conscious solidarity between communities through the Empatitza project in the classrooms of 4th ESO. At Options we believe in the importance of building bridges between different realities and promoting a vision committed to social justice and equal opportunities.
We think that accompanying and empowering the girls of Nepal and aware of the different realities that exist in the world among young Catalans, we contribute to the construction of a fairer, more inclusive and egalitarian future for all.
Our counterpart: SDRC Nepal
Social Development and Research Centre (SDRC) Nepal is the Nepalese association that implements the projects on the ground. The organization created in 2009 is mainly concerned with the welfare of girls, women and children, focusing its efforts on education, health and empowerment initiatives. SDRC Nepal has the will to build a fairer and more opportunity-filled future for all. It provides community knowledge, local management and daily monitoring.
Both entities carry out joint planning, have shared indicators and pass accountability at the end of each natural year. In short, SDRC Nepal coordinates the day to day; Options ensures resources, training and transparency.
